Why Music and Movement
Our Educator's Profile

Hello, my name is Kathryn de Freitas. I am mother of Stuart - who fills my heart with much joy!  My husband, Ivo is my best friend, confidant and biggest fan and I love him dearly.

My passions are teaching, music and children! I have worked with different ages of children in different environments from when I was 14 years of age through many opportunities of volunteer work like running and working on children camps, serving as teacher, leader, divisional leader and pastor at children’s church in the Methodist churches I have been a member of, and have been involved in several special needs children events. I have many varied hobbies which I enjoy doing but most of all, I love to spend time with my family.

I am qualified in the fields of Travel and Tourism, Marketing, Corporate Training and Licensed as a Kindermusik Educator for early childhood development. I have gained several achievements in areas of business strongly related to administration, computer literacy and project management.

I have a keen interest in early childhood development, and I place a lot of emphasis on movement and sensory experiences in each class.  I am a firm believer that each child learns at their own pace in a way that is best for them and so love to break down concepts that are not always so easy for a child to understand into fun and easy ways of understanding and experiencing them.  Music is proven to be the best gift we as parents can give our children – and so, in every class the most important experience any child can have, is to enjoy this best ever gift.

I have taught Kindermusik at several schools and from a studio I owned in Weltevreden Park, South Africa. I love the experience of interacting with moms and their little ones and seeing how quickly they learn and develop. My achievement of Kindermusik International Maestro Teacher for teacher and service excellence within 18 months of teaching this incredible program has been an honour I am most proud of.

A lot of my learning and knowledge has come from the experiences I have had through working in many different fields with small and large groups of children on camps and in the classroom.  This said there are also the many moments of being a mother which has taught me the true meaning of love and patience which cannot be explained.

I have a passion for Kindermusik, and have seen plenty of moments of quality special time spent between parent and child together. I am delighted at every milestone reached and every hurdle overcome.  I am privileged to be a part of the most important stories shared with each visit, but most of all, I love sharing the gift of music to all who are in my classes!
